South Australian Development Regulations require an independent technical expert to sign off on all larger structural designs. The independent expert must be appropriately qualified. The certificate must be current and reference the appropriate legislation. The relevant Australian Standards and Building Code of Australia (NCC) is often also referenced. The independent technical expert must also not be involved in the preparation of the original drawings or project.
