Structural engineering in Hobart, delivered online

Hobart's building surveyors and councils see more sheds and carports than almost any other city per head, and nearly all of them need engineering in Tasmania. We provide it online, designed for the exposed sites, dolerite clays and occasional snow loads of the south.

Engineering services in Hobart

In Tasmania we provide structural engineering for sheds and workshops, patios, carports and decks, fences, shade sails and container buildings.

Tasmania runs a permit system through registered building surveyors under CBOS, and the exempt limits for sheds are small, so most projects need engineer-certified drawings. We prepare structural drawings and certificates for lodgement with your surveyor, and answer their questions directly.

Hobart is wind Region A, but the Derwent Valley, the Eastern Shore hills and the foothills of kunanyi / Mount Wellington are exposed and topographic factors matter. Reactive dolerite clays are common and affect slab and footing design, and higher suburbs can see snow loads. We account for all of it from your site address and photos.

Sloping Hobart blocks mean exposed sites. Send the address and a few photos and we design for the actual wind on your block.

Engineering without the guesswork

Three steps from first enquiry to drawings you can lodge with council or your certifier.

01

Tell us what you’re building

Share your plans, sketches or site details. Please give the maximum dimensions you want quoted. Increasing them later may require a revised quote.

02

Review your scope and fixed fee

We confirm exactly what the engineering covers and what it costs. Nothing to pay until you accept.

03

Receive your engineering drawings

After acceptance and payment, we prepare your stamped drawings and answer any council questions about them if needed.
